In order to learn from each other’s approaches to research management and funding Sida, The Tanzanian Commission for Science and Technology (COSTECH) and The Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO) have entered into a unique collaborative research programme.
TASENE is a collaborative programme between Tanzanian, Swedish
and Dutch research funding institutions, aimed at enhancing
scientific excellence and strengthening research collaboration
between the collaborating countries, on the basis of equality in
research support and research management.
The main objective of the collaboration is to learn from each
other's funding approaches and management and encourage more
harmonisation and alignment in research funding in the long run, in
order to make possible more funding opportunities for recently
graduated PhDs.
The programme provides opportunities for post-doctoral
researchers for collaborative scientific research that is relevant
to the research and university system of Tanzania and that is
performed in partnerships with Tanzanian post-docs and post-docs
from either Sweden or the Netherlands.
The first awardees of the programme have now been selected, and
we are pleased to announce their names and projects here.
